PointX Announces New General Manager
PointX has appointed Phil Alder as its General Manager taking over from Peter Staniczenko who had managed the Company from its inception on a two-year secondment from Ordnance Survey.
Phil's last position was with IBM's Software Business where he managed sales campaigns into large financial institutions. Before this, however, he worked for Etak (the Digital Mapping Company) before it was bought by TeleAtlas. In this position he worked with companies such as Ford, Bosch and Yellow Pages to name but a few.
"Etak was predominantly focussed on enhancing a digital map with Driver Restriction Information to aid accurate routing for Satellite Navigation Systems and other direction finding products." said Alder. "We looked to enhance our offering with additional information such as 'points of interest'. These were particularly focussed on the motorists' requirements and certainly nowhere near as extensive as those PointX can offer."
"I am delighted to have joined PointX," Alder continues, "and can envisage numerous uses for our data. The company is still very young and has everything to play for. We have an excellent team in place and I am confident that a bright and prosperous future lies ahead of us as we build on the sound foundations laid by my predecessor."
PointX Chairman Christopher Roper added: "We are delighted to have secured Phil's services. His background is just right for PointX, which has a great story to tell. We are moving quite rapidly from a product development phase into a more active sales and marketing environment."
