PointX is pleased to announce the addition of Open Plaques to its dataset. Open Plaques is a community based project started in 2009 which documents and promotes commemorative plaques with a remit to get the information widely distributed and re-used.
Within Great Britain there are almost 9,000 instances. Plaques typically commemorate people or events at a specific location. Interestingly, whilst the terminology of 'Blue Plaques' is generally well known and accepted, commemorative plaques actually come in various guises not just the generic 'Blue' most people would think of!
