It has been a quite some time since PointX made any press releases but this does not mean the company has been standing still hence this update on what has happened over the last year and comment on what is to come.
||PointX Data Selected for Government contract
PointX is pleased to announce that its data is to be made available to central government departments as part of a Pan Government Agreement.
||PointX starts transition to new trade data supplier
The June 2008 release of PointX includes Accommodation, Eating and Drinking data sourced from 118 Data Resources instead of Thomson Directories
||PointX expands supporting documentation
Detailed breakdowns of PointX classifications and mappings to SIC 2003 and SIC 2007 are now available to customers.
||PointX now includes Edubase data
With the goal of having the most up to date and complete datasets available the latest release of PointX now includes schools and colleges from Edubase.

||PointX signs contract for VisitBritain data
In its ongoing pursuit of quality data PointX is delighted to have signed an agreement with VisitBritain (formerly the British Tourist Authority.)
||Revised Classification System Announced|
In response to customer feedback, and analysis of data, PointX is revising its classification system as of September 2006. Read More.
||PointX appoints Ordnance Survey as Sole Distributor
PointX has made the decision to appoint Ordnance Survey as its sole distributor. In this role Ordnance Survey will be the only organisation permitted to sell PointX data directly to a customer in its raw state. Also, as sole distributor, Ordnance Survey will be the only organisation able to licence and support Value Added Resellers.
“Ordnance Survey is well placed to act as our sole distributor” says Phil Alder, General Manager, “particularly when you consider their well run Partner Program. We believe this change will simplify sales and procurement processes for our data.”
PointX's other co-Venture Partner, Landmark Information Group or, more specifically, Landmark Solutions will be able to focus more on what it does best which is to bring its real expertise in delivering GI solutions to both public and private sector organisations alike, through itís status as a Value added reseller.
||New Release includes un-verified addresses.|
In response to customer feedback an effort has been made to make more data available in the PointX output. To this end the December release will include location information for features whose addresses could not be verified or are not actual postal addresses. For example, you cannot write to a payphone but having a description of its location may be very useful in addition to an accurate grid reference

Always looking to enhance its data holding PointX will be adding petrol forecourt information from many of the leading companies including BP, Shell, Esso and Murco. Additionally the forecourt locations of Asda will also be added to the June release. Read More.

From December 2004 PointX data will include Post Office information sourced from the Royal Mail. The incorporation of this definitive source bolsters the existing holding of this strategic facility. Read More.
|June 2004||New datasets now available within PointX|
The latest cuts of PointX data now include within them Bus Stop and Taxi Rank information as well as London Underground's definitive station listing. The inclusion of the Department for Transports NaPTAN data (National Public Transport Access Nodes) significantly boosts the "Road and Rail" holding whilst other public access nodes including, more Taxi Ranks, are still being collected.
